Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Winn Parish Criminal History, you consent to the practices stated in this policy.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered into a search tool is transmitted directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its response. Winn Parish Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

Messages sent by email are retained as needed to respond. We keep those communications within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers automatically receive certain technical details whenever a visitor loads a page:

  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • A referring website, when available
  • The date and time of each request

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure how the service is used, such as which pages draw traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers combine this usage information into reports. You can block cookies through browser controls, although disabling them may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Maintaining site availability and performance
  • Routing a search request to the appropriate outside provider
  • Understanding which resources visitors use and where improvements are needed
  • Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
  • Presenting advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Winn Parish Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by the Winn Parish Sheriff, the Eighth Judicial District Court and parish clerk, Louisiana State Police BCII, and the Louisiana State Police Sex Offender and Child Predator Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into a consumer report or a file about another person.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure choices. Review those terms before entering a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to sheriff, court, Louisiana agency, legal-aid, or outside search resources. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy rules apply. Read them before providing personal information.

Some advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs through the provider's systems, not ours.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Information may be disclosed to these limited recipients:

  • Outside search providers that process a submitted query
  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks serving ads on the pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, however, so we cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will remove it promptly.

Your Data Rights

Rights may vary by residence. Louisiana's Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law, R.S. 51:1401 et seq., and the Database Security Breach Notification Law, R.S. 51:3071 et seq., may apply in the circumstances they govern. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Request access to personal information held about you
  • Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
  • Seek deletion where the law permits it
  • Object to certain processing where an applicable right exists

Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may be revised from time to time. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically for changes.

Effective date: July 26, 2026
